Intelius is a super scam that double bills by cleverly splitting services so the user thinks he is paying for a comprehensive single-pay service.

These thugs are the antithesis of the "keep it simple" approach to communication, rising to the top of CAST (confuse and stick it to them).

Be sure to get written confirmation of your scam enrollment.

Will have no confidence that subscription was actually cancelled until I get my next credit card bill. Most of the information they provide is available free on the web so smart consumers will pass up Intelius and do it themselves.

So sad that companies can stay in business legally fooling people. And if Intelius is telling that they are not fooling people it’s of course a lie.

No one can make me believe that people pay $1 for obtaining information about people also want some ID protection, that's just b.s. and they know themselves it's a big lie That is how they make money. This ID theft subscription they are “forcing” people into does not add any value whatsoever. And Intelius, please, if you guys respond to this, don’t say that people get a free 7 day subscription and can choose to opt out anytime…..

YES, WE KNOW THAT ALREADY, but it’s how you do it that matters.

I have an MBA from Wharton, and I know many people will do whatever to make money, but I think this will change. I’ve been involved in several business start-ups, some successful and some not, and if, during our research we find that the only way to make the business sustainable is to walk into the gray zone between legal and illegal (where Intelius clearly are operating), we would stop. I would hate running a business where everyone is talking negatively about you. I have yet to find a positive unbiased review from a person who bought a $1 person-information from Intelius that is happy to be automatically signed up for ID theft for $20/month.

Intelius, please show us that! The 2008 economic down turn was partly a result of companies operating in this gray zone between legal and illegal, for instance the subprime mortgage industry.

People are fed up with this now (just look at the massive worldwide ‘Occupy Wall St” movement), and hopefully in the future consumers will make it very uncomfortable for people running business like that. So (un)Intelius, I would give you a few years, and you’re out, hopefully some of your executives will be hunted down by angry customers too.

When you do business with Intelius read everything carefully. Do not assume you know what you are agreeing to without reading EVERY word and understanding fully.

** The promotional pricing was the authorization to start billing for the Identity Protect. DO NOT ACCEPT ANY DISCOUNTS OR PROMOTIONS If you do not authorize additional chargers.

** The only "free" is 7 days free and after that it will bill at 19.95, Unless you speak to a rep they can lower it to 9.95 if you want to keep it.

**Place your correct email address into the website as that is where you will get email receipts of any services and or future charges. Make sure to check your spam folder as well.

** If your unsure or just want to double check anything give them a call. Located in WA state, Pacific time the hours are... Mon-Fri: 5.00AM to 8.00PM and Saturday: 6.00AM to 4.30PM.

**Please remember when you call ntelius the CS reps are trying to keep a roof over their families head and food on the table too.

** A little kindness and respect will go far reaching with the rep more so than being rude, name calling, yelling and cussing.

** And if the rep says the membership is not refundable just let them know...

"I'm going to DISPUTE THE CHARGES.. EITHER WITH YOUR BANK, THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OR WITH THE BBB (BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU).

*doing this, you will be refunded all membership charges immediately.

*you will not have to file a dispute or cancel you credit card.

*the rep is off the hook and not blamed for the lost revenue.

If you select a promotional price on the Intelius website, you will also receive a free 7 day trial of Identity Protect. After the 7 day trial, it will convert to a regular subscription and bill out at $19.95 monthly.

However, there’s no obligation. If you determine within the 7 day trial that you no longer want Identity Protect, you can cancel your service anytime, online or over the phone with a customer support representative.
