I applied to Intelius for a one time $1.95 name and address search. They offered a .95 sale price, which I too quickly clicked on not realizing I had signed on for a $19.95 per month (doubled) for both an ID protection plan and a Search service allowing me to search 100 people per month. I am an individual , not a business, would not be interested in such a thing.. This company comes out of Washington State./ I am writing a letter to Atty General of that state, to complain, and others should do the same. I have been charged $19.95 twice in March and twice in April 2010. Put an end to this scam. Dont use this company. be careful what you click on or "agree" to. I am told I will be refunded, I am waiting to see. ,
Intelius is a Scam
I purchased a single people report online at a discount of $.99 with a 7 day trial of identity protect. I cancelled the identity protect trial and should not have incurred any futher charges. I noticed a pending charge for $19.95 from Intelius still on my bank statement 4/3/10. Intelius is only open during weekdays. I called first thing Monday 4/5/10. The 1st person told me I had signed up for some people search reports. I explained I purchased 1 single report and none since then. She told me nothing could be done, all charges are final. Finally had to say I was filing a complaint with the BBB to get a supervisor on the line. Spoke with (supervisor) Jaime ID # 8870 who said a fax would be sent to my bank to reverse the charge that day after I called my bank to get the exact wording and procedures to be faxed over. I got the information from my bank called Intelius and gave them the exact wording and fax number. Was told a supervisor would handle the same day. Nothing has ever been received by my bank. Still no resolution! Do Not Use This Service!
Intelius in Atlanta, Georgia - Background check was inaccurate compnay refuses to change
The company has ten records regarding my criminal background search, I've been arrested three times and have four charges. 4 records are identical and 7 relate to the same charges. No where in Intelius report does it state 2 of the four charges were dropped. I have tried to contact customer service and they refuse to alter their records to reflect reality. Certain records detail Verdict Finding and other do not apparently at the sole discretion of Intelius.Additional records provided as a result of the "criminal background" check are also inaccurate. "The worlds largest and most accurate public source" is a crock.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! NOT EVEN ONCE and definitely not for the supposed "free trial". I went to use the 99 cent reverse phone number look up at Intelius and they ended up charging my credit card $19.95 three times in one month and refuse a refund! they want me...View full review
Intelius in Latham, New York - Unauthorized charges
I used intellus on 3/27/10 and authorized the company to charge .95 to my account for a phone number and address look-up. On Monday, March 29, 2010, I realized the company charged my card $19.95 additonal to the .95 cents. I called my bank and told them that this is an unauthorized charge to my account and I am presently on a long wait holing time trying to get this company to refund my money. Buyer beware! This creates bad business for intellus. Thousands of people rely on this service that is not even what it is at all to be. The phone numbers are always disconnected and the information is not at all correct. I am not spending another dime with this company!
Intelius has published an incorrect report about me available on the first page of a Google search for my name with a picture which is not me and other personal information and they refuse to take it down unless I provide them with even more personal information for...View full review
Intelius in Richmond, Virginia - Intellius criminal complaint
I was the victim of id theft.Intellius is sitting on top of the information the criminals used. They refuse to give it to me.I contacted the washington state attorneys office. They are absolutely worthless.Because I dont have an account with Intellius they are closing the complaint.Never mind that I told them them that to begin with.Dont bother wasting your time complaining to them.Like all other govt agencies the criminal and the investigators have all the rights. You as a victim dont. You have the right and duty to shut up and learn to live with it. They are all a worthless waste of our tax dollars.
Intelius in Newnan, Georgia - Ripp off
Do NOT use Intelius. Did a background check on myself. Charged 67.85 for public info part of which was not my info. Not only that, but it did not find any information regarding my prior arrest. Was told by their rude customer service rep that the info of my arrest was not public or had "dropped off". To add insult to injury, they charged me 19.95 for the membership as well as 19.95 for identity theft management service. They tried to offer me a free credit report instead of refunding my money. Please note that each credit bureau offers 1 free credit report per year. Do not use this service. They agreed to reverse both charges for 19.95. I took a lose on the 67.85. It was hard lesson to learn and avery costly one.
Intelius in Reno, Nevada - Charged to bank account and not able to get access

Intelius in Dallas, Texas - Wow, what a scam!
I called the telephone number provided by my credit card company. After about a three minute wait the representative told me how I agreed to the Ident. add on during my one information search (which did not provide any usable information). When I said this to the representative, he said that is what you get for .95 cents. How Professional. I had not rec'd any email or information, just a charge for $19.95. I asked if there were some sort of box that you checked to agree to accept the monthly add on, but I was told that I had a choice of paying .95 cents which is 51% off or $1.95 full price. I selected the .95 cent price and that automatically enrolled me in the monthly program. So had I selected the 1.95 service, I would have saved $19.00 hmmmmm. Sounds strange to me. I feel this is a scam and if they are providing a true desirable service, they would not need to stoop to such a low level to obtain customers and membership/subscription. Provide a desirable service and you will have happy customers. Scam them into being charged a monthly fee and you have people like myself posting on every possible place to report the poor business ethics of this company.
