Intelius - Pay first, then no results

Beware - Intelius charges you before they will tell you whether or not they have any information on the person you are looking for. After you pay and they charge you for lots of add-ons, you find out that the person cannot be found. The results contina people with similar names that they do have in their database. But they should first allow you to make sure that the person can be found via a birthdate or other unique information before charging and then producing no results for the search desired. Quit disappointing for the #1 service of this type!

These people will eventually get sued. They are posting wrong info on me also.

#100408

By law no employeer is allowed to use a background check off of a public information website. You should sue the company('S) that are using the cunsomer side of thier site. If the companys are using the cunsomer side of thier website then they are probalby to dumb to work for anyway!!!

#98996

Well at least there not telling you your 70 years old. I'm a homecare nurse and intelius has my background check as 70 I'm 40. Extremely affecting my ability to get work.

Intellius - Unethical Info Collection

I was shocked to find that Intellius posted my address; home phone and birthdate on their Zaba site. I was instructed by the site to send email to have info removed -- it seems this was only a ruse to get my email address and confirm my identity. Then the site instructed me to fax them proof of my identity -- I plan to follow up with the state attorney general's office to question if this is a fair, legal practice. llll lllll llll llll lllll lllll lllll lllll lllll lllll lllll lllll lllll lllll llllllll lllll llll llll lll lll

I used Intelius to do a background check on my daycare provider last July.

I did not click on any third party company's offer just as I'm assuming the poster above didn't. I just discovered I've also been charged for a ValueMax membership for months. Mine was for $25 monthly. Nobody would click on an offer from a company without knowing it.

Scam! You should be put in jail.

If you select a promotional price on the Intelius website, you will also receive a free 7 day trial of Identity Protect. After the 7 day trial, it will convert to a regular subscription and bill out at $19.95 monthly.

However, there’s no obligation. If you determine within the 7 day trial that you no longer want Identity Protect, you can cancel your service anytime, online or over the phone with a customer support representative.

It sounds like you have also accepted a third party company’s offer that is advertised on the Intelius website. If you no longer wish to be enrolled in that third party company’s service, please call 888-445-2727 Monday – Friday 4:30am – 10:00pm PST. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Unautorized charges to my debit card

I used Intelius twice for a people search on 7/27/09 and 9/14/09 and should have been charged $4.95 and $39.95. I have been charged a total of $159.60 so far. I have emailed them and they said they would reverse the charges but have not done so. I have contacted BBB and now I'm going to see an attorney, this is so wrong and it needs to stop!! some of the charges are from 24 plus and ID Protect which I did not authorize any of these charges except for the first two

Ok, so you say "unauthorized", but you select to order a product without paying attention to what you are purchasing, then claim "unauthorized" due to your ignorance of how a website operates. When I used Intelius, it was clear, Crystal clear, what selections you lcan order, if you see the same report for two separate prices, a normal person with some common sense would say, Hmm... why the two prices?

ID Protect IDProtection Intellius charge scam

IDProtect ID Protect Intellius I had the same charge - .99 for a report, then a week later, ID Protect charge of $20+/-. Reputable internet businesses do not convolute their customers web experience with unasked for services with auto-renewal fees. That is poor business practice. I went into their system and canceled the renewal, then an ad popped up to continue at a lower price. I idd not take the offer (or what I thought was not taking it). Then I check my email and I have a message thanking me for renewing. So, back I went to go through the process again. Additionally, Intellius bury the ability for you to cancel under links and links. If you're reputable, you put your best foot forward and hope your customer likes what they experience enough to return. Unfortunately, I will never use Intellius again. They have lost my trust. I am posting the detail of the charge so others searching for it will know what it is: CHKCARDINT*IDPROTECT M877-9**** WAUS

Scammers. DO NOT EVER USE!!!

Intelius is a scam. I ordered a report based on a unique social security number and last and first name. The report returned 151 unrelated searches impossible to comb through and I did not receive information about a person I was looking for. Customer representative manager was useless to the best. Very polite but useless nonetheless. She insisted that despite advertised search by a unique identifier I should be happy that I received so much useless information and I all I had to do is throw it way or get a credit to run another useless search. They CAN only search by last, first name!!! Never ever use them again.

Maybe you would like to do the same?

Pretty simple request: Attempting to locate the carrier that has "ownership" of my old phone number...currently "out of service".

They got my name wrong...they got the city wrong.

(3 address they returned were not even shown in the right town). Good grief ..they even got info I gave them when I ordered their "detailed report" wrong. "Usefull information" NOT! Supplied me with the carriers name...WTF "Ameritech" .....uh Ameritech has been out of business since January of 2003.

Waste of money! Scammers & Thieves!

for one thing your privacy was never private, according to the website People finders, instantcheck, intellius etc and such, I was told that your state/government releases this info as well as anything you sign up with, cc's, cable services, anything that leaves a paper trail these loosers throw it out there for kicks. and it puts you and your family in danger of course these liars are going to claim that wasnt intended so that goes to show you how they are in denile of course these people or animals will play it off as "i dont know that" routine, they do they just dont want you to find out what they are all about!, and dont think it wont, realize there are allot of whackos out there with skitzo problems and altered state of mind that really believe they get messages from God to get rid of people and these sites are helped by your own so called Privacy act writers, your only trusting liars who get in to do damage then when you protest they want to throw the book at you and throw you in jail because they dont want to be found out, wake up and realize you been played, this was going on long before the net came out, its just made it a whole lot easier to kill someone or ruin more of their life thanks too the so called LAWS of LIES.

All this talk about privacy policy is a lie, YOU HAVE NO PRIVACY they just want you too think that besides I thought it was only the FEDS who kept this info, guess that was a lie too.

Thanks Congress! you need to understand , here we are asked to vote for these preachers for congress and then this is pulled, according too the attorney general of calif, your information is their game pretty much, anyone can be thrown out there but if you want it private the way i read it, you have to pay out the *** to lock it up now thats highway robbery.

hypocrites,

HEY, EVERYONE!! READ YOUR COMPLAINTS.

ALTHOUGH, I HAVE CONSIDERED USING INTELLIUS, BUT DIDN'T. ONE THING TO REMEMBER, BEFORE SIGNING UP, I NEVER PUT OUT MONEY. NEVER! "I MAKE BELEIVE I BAUGHT THE PACKAGE DEAL." FORINSTANCE, I CALL THEM UP, ACT LIKE I WANT A REFUND ON THEIR ITEM, AND IF I CAN'T GET A RESPONCE, OR THEY WANT TO *** ME AROUND, THEN I KNOW I WOULD NEVER CONSIDER THEM.

THIS WAY I NEVER LOSE MONEY. RIGHT? YOU SEE, TONIGHT I WAS GOING TO BUY INTO THIS JUST TO FIND OUT INFO ON A RELITIVE. BUT INSTEAD, I WENT TO "GOOGLE" PRINTED OFF "INTELLIUS SCAM" TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY COMPLAINTS.

WOW! A TON OF COMPLAINTS!! SO NOW I WOULD NEVER HAVE ANTHING TO DO WITH THEM. LEARN A LISTEN, PULL UP THEIR NAME AND SCAM THEM BEFORE YOU PUT OUT MONEY.

YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF TO BLAME. RIGHT? PEOPLE USE YOUR HEAD, AND FEEL THEM OUT FIRST. OKAY.

I AM 50 YEARS OLD AND NEVER BEEN SCAMMED. THOSE PEOPLE THAT DON'T CHECK OUT PROPER INFO LIKE THIS ONE WILL GET BURNED BADLY. GOOD LUCK YOU ALL. BUT DON'T LET IT RUIN YOUR LIFE.

IT COST MONEY TO BE EDUCATED.

AND YOU ALL GOT EDUCATED. SANDRA SMITH

If you read all the complaints, this is their only response. When I used it for my boss, there was nothing about a 7 day offer.

I read things very closely. It was a one time thing for 99 cents. When we called to complain he was told that he should teach me how to read better. I almost went through the phone and ripped her throat out.

I know how to read. There was nothing there. I read everything very closely.

I've used their services before and never got charged $19.95. They are ripping everyone off.

Automatic $19.95 membership without consent

Paid $4.95 to get the owner's name on a cell phone number. Credit card was charged $4.95 PLUS $19.95 for some bogus "membership" that I didn't agree to. They use very tricky wording on their website. You have to work your way through a landmine of trickery where they try to get you to agree to one bogus membership or another. Finally, when you have successfully avoided the minefield of trickery, your credit card GETS CHARGED ANYWAY! It's disappointing that companies like this are allowed to operate. They intentionally scam people with these $19.95 "memberships" and know from their research that only x% of people will contest the charges.

The exact same thing happened to me and it is May 2012.

It is absolutely outrageous to treat custmers like that.

I got the same $19.95 charge for 5 months already. Do you guys think I can sue them at the small claim court to get my money back?

#355362

I'm trying to unsuscribe but can't find how to do it on the website, can someone help me please?

#179455

I always keep a few prepaid credit cards on hand with various small balances to deal with this sort of thing. It will reject changes you did not know about and only pass the one you did.

If you have several credit cards, use one that you are about to cancel.

Then as soon as you buy from a suspicious seller, cancel it. 8)

#147659

I just saw that a credit card I don't use was over the limit, when I checked through I found that this comp. has alternated charging me 19.95 and 24.95 since a .99 charge I had made that I barely remember.

I did not sign up for anything and if it asked me to do a subscription I always opt out. They have charged me $420.50!!

all together for nothing! I'm going to talk to the bank tomorrow, hopefully I can get it back though probably not I am thinking about just cancel my bank accounts so I am in charge of my own money and no way this can happen again.

#100760

TALK ABOUT BEING PISSED. I JUST NOTICED THAT 19.95 WAS TAKEEN OUT OF MY ACCOUNT NOT REALIZING THE 19.95 MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP.

I SIGNED UP FOR 4.95 TO LOOK UP AN ADDRESS.

THIS COMPANY HAS ALOT OF NERVE. THEY WONT EVEN REFUND YOU THE MONEY.

I avoided every subscription box and still got charged $19.95 for a $.99 phone number request that told me nothing! Not only was the $.99 a waste, but it wound up costing me another $19.95.

Hopefully I can get through to them in the morning to reverse the charge. Its great that there are websites like this out here so I can see that I am not the only one getting duped!

#94321

I used intellus to find a current phone number and agreed to the 95 cent charge. I navagated around the boxes needed for concent to authorize enrollment in intellus identity protect.

I was asked to enter my e-mail address to authorize enrollment. I never entered by email address and passed over the enrollment button to get my report. Within a few minutes I was sent an email stating that I would be charged 19.95 a month if I do not cancell within 7 days. I immediately typed out 2 messages for intellus customer service both of which came back to me as server doesn't exist.

In addition, intellus sent me out dated info that I already had but, would sent me more info for 30+ bucks. Stay away from intellus, this is one shady company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Don't get anything from this company

I signed up just to get one phone number and they charged me $1.95 and then signed me up for a id protect service. They said I signed up and took their trail offer. No I didn't. Total scam. Then I called and they accused me of signing up for their service and got upset when I called it a scam. They take your money. I hope someone takes them to court. Very corrupt company. They take advantage of people just wanting phone numbers. This is what is wrong with this country when people can keep ripping people of like this.

Intelius is listing my wife alive when she is dead

Intelius is listing my wife (Penny G. Maillet) as living in Hawthorne, Nevada. They list her age and other "information" when the fact is, that she has been dead for almost 31 years. She and my oldest daughter (Michelle) were killed in a car accident in Redding, Calif. on january 3rd. 1979. We lived in Hawthorne back in 1975 and 76. We then moved to Redding and lived there until they were killed. I ran into this "information" by accident, and it highly upset me. How can they do something like that without verifying thir data. Someone needs to fix this. Patrick Maillet.

intelius and others link us to criminal records not even ours and job history based on every other person and business renting a post office box before and after us and we are then related to every person ever lived in the apartment we rent and if we move we are also related to every person that moves in and out after we leave and these job application checks never think these is wrong so if we do not claim a criminal or work history not actually ours but sold as being us we get denied jobs and rights to have a bank account so...

i am on a war to flood my file with such *** and obvious wrong data to force any people with at least some common sense to see the obvious *** and wrong and start to question the file before deciding the additional criminal history in states i never been and denying me a job for supposedly lying about my work and criminal history when i do not claim owning or working for places that rent my old post office box and do not claim a criminal history not actually mine but intelius decides the first letter of their name is the same as mine so must be me and living at addresses i never knew existed simply because it is linked to the history of all other people and businesses moving in and out of post office boxes and apartments we had at one time.... hoping the obvious and *** will get people to ask questions rather than deny us jobs based on the not verified but intelius decides to add things to our life on their own basically accusing us of lying on applications based on not claiming the same history intelius decides is going to be me but not actually me at all

Pissed doesn't even come close

I also have the same monthly charges showing up on my back account from Intelius and Valmax. After using the site to look up info on a phone number, apparently these companies are then free to deduct charges from your account for bogus services. My bank (BOA) was not helpful and told me to call the companies directly. There was nothing the bank could do. After waiting on hold for a long time I was told that only the last month was refundable from Intelius but Valmax agreed to refund two charges. This was 3 days ago and I still haven't had any charges removed from my account so I'm not convinced this will solve the problem.

*** companies like INTELIOUS are the reason why people get bad, poor, inaccurate, and just plain old WRONG information. But people think they're getting good info so they pay them money. Money they'll never get back even when the info turns out to be wrong as ***.

But what can any od us do? The Federal Trade Commission doesn't care or they'd do something about it, so the gov't obviously doesn't care. Besides, they're way too busy giving away all our hard earned taxes we've paid to other friggen people around the globe that aren't even from our own country. Nothin new there . . .

Well, the only thing anyone can do about INTELIOUS is just walk in to one of their offices and just take matters into your OWN HANDS and show them we're tired of their ***. Unfortunately that's the ONLY way to make people listen to what your saying these days.

This planet is about one thing anymore; M O N E Y. People don't matter, only money matters . . . and lots of it. Lying, cheating, and breaking the backs of those who they can TAKE it from appears to be legal these days (at least in most countries).

I say do unto them what they've done unto us.

Intellius

I too used Intellius for an email search, was charged the $1.95 to my cc as agreed. When I was looking at my statement on line, I noticed a charge for $19.95 from Intellius. I called them and told them I had not agreed tot his, and I remembered I unchecked the box in the lower left part of there page. The gentleman I got was very nice, said the charge would be removed and he gave me a reference number if I had to call back, which I did not. In two days, my cc had been credited. I consider myself lucky, I guess if you catch it quickly, you can get it fixed easier. The number I called was 1-87*-974-****. I hope you all have the same success I did. Remember, look at your statement on line weekly to check for fraudulent charges.
