Intelius - beware total rip-off
I used Intelius reverse number look up for 1 lousy phone number - they could not locate a name with the number - SO THEIR FRIGGIN SERVICE DIDN'T WORK!!! I was supposed to get a refund, instead I was entered into 3 memberships they offer and was charged $19.95 per month for one, $14.95 for the other, and some other fee for the third. They would NOT REFUND MY MONEY!!!!! They said once I used their service for anything, I had 7 days to cancel these memberships - MEMBERSHIPS I NEVER ASKED FOR, NOR KNEW THEY OPENED FOR ME - I was able to cancel memberships, but got no friggin refund - totally misleading, total rip off - BEWARE - their service is totally farudulent
Intelius Wrongful Credit card charge
I used Intelius's service to find information on an individual. Their website appears to offer a person search for .95¢. I choose this option. When I got the credit card bill later, the charge was 19.95. I called and was told I had purchased "credit fraud protection". I did not ever intend nor have ever purchased this service in the past. I asked for a refund and was first offered free service. I pushed my disgruntled position and was refunded my money.. The experience felt like a classic bait and switch. Intelius Wrongful Credit card charge I am pissed.
Intelius in Jacksonville, North Carolina - Charged my credit card
I used the online Intelius service to locate a relative and agreed to a charge of $.95 which was to be billed to my Visa card. Unbeknownst to me, I was enrolled in a "monthly service plan" and was charged $19.95 twice for a service I did not want nor need. I discussed it with a representative at Intellius and was told my service contract was cancelled. The next month I received the same charge. Again I called and was told the service contract had been cancelled and no further charges. It took two months to get the charges stopped. $40 is not a significant amount of money but to a retired, senior citizen, it is considerable. I don't ever intend to use their service again.

Intelius sent obsolete info for $50!
I decided to try Intelius.com to run a background check on someone for whom I already had some basic info. I was charged $49.95 and received obsolete and inaccurate data. I had already done some basic checking of public records on my own, so I knew a few things about this person. My thought was that Intelius.com would supplement what I already had. In fact, what they gave me was at least 4 years out of date and didn't include even basic vital stats on this person. I am furious with this service...what a scam!
From Susan L. Wells, Auburn,Ca. My correct info is on whitepages.com (paid for by me) Intellius has me listed under a false alias (that I did not create) in San Luis Obispo, CA, as well as Los Osos, CA (where I have never lived) - along with relatives I do not have...View full review

Intelius in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Horrible fake service and terrible customer support
Full scam company. I don't understand how they are allowed to be in business. Do a self check on your phone number and you will see the results that come up are all fake. How is this company allowed to exist? When I called to try and get my 4.99 back they said that they don't guarantee that the info is correct. They are just randomly selecting addresses and numbers and trying to associate them with people. This must be stopped. This is so unlawful and criminal. Does anybody have a lawsuit against this company yet? In addition to this you have to call up and cancel your subscription or they will keep sending you emails.
Shame on Intelius for not being transparent!
Are you kidding me, Intelius? I did one search on one person...got charged more than what I understood it would be, although it was admittendly hard to understand what I was buying. Then, went back into your web site and immediately cancelled the "membership" I didnt want. Then, started receiving emails about an Identity Protection service I NEVER agreed to. This is ridiculous and you all should be ashamed. Your senior management is allowing these poor customer service reps to get raked over the coals by angry consumers because your fees and services are not transparent and you KNOW it!!! Change your fee structure and be honest or y'all are going to be out of business judging by the number of complaints here. It took me about 2 seconds to see via a google search what is going on. Shame shame shame on you!
Intelius in Washington, District Of Columbia - Intellius misleads
Selecting the $0.99 promotion requires a credit card number and automatically enrolls you in the $19.95/month service. I am usually savvy enough to catch these scams, but I missed this one in my haste. Additionally, as posted by many others, the data returned from the search was useless and did not contain the information promised. I called the number posted in the contact tab of their website and fortunately got through in only a couple minutes. The representative did try to baffle me with offers of additional discounts, etc, but finally agreed to refund the $19.95 along with the $0.99 and unsubscribe me. At least she was cooperative and pleasant. Now I just need to watch my account like a hawk to make sure they follow up. I hate the fact that unethical companies like this have my card information
