Intellius charged my credit card $19.95 per month for faking my signing up for monthly plan

Earlier this year, I had tried to find a cousin of mine and paid $ 85 for two reports to help me in contacting that person. To my dismay and anger, I found out this month that Intellius has been charging my credit card $ 19.95 for 9 months. I did not find out that this was going on for all this time because the charges were mixed with other bilings. They were paid in full and I had to call my credit card company who had to call Intellius to get my credit card refunded. I am just livid and will not bother using htem again. Greed, pure and simple, combined with fraud. Evil.

Intelius rip off

I've just recently had the same thing happen to me with this company. I played right into their hands: spent a very short time checking them out. Somehow, they deducted money from my banking account (without my knowledge) and left me IN THE RED for the rest of the month! I attempted to contact this company to straighten things out. Twice, I spoke to a different person, whom I couldn't understand. I went to my bank, changed all of my information thinking that they may do more damage. All I can say is BEWARE; this "intelligent intelius" is bogus!!

Intelius is much like any other people-search database. They aggregate chunks of theoretically publicly available information about people and sell it to anyone who comes along, including identity thieves and stalkers -- probably primarily identity thieves and stalkers. They offer free trials, or a single search for a few dollars and somehow manage to hide the small print so people are sucked into monthly payments they never anticipated. The sad thing is their information is often incorrect anyway. People who are doing real background checks on employees, etc., do not use services like this. They use professionals who know the law and who are more careful with private information.

The truly ugly side to these companies is that they use the information you give them to search someone else to add to that person's profile and to create one on you, which they will, in turn, sell to someone else. Unfortunately, now they have your bank, credit card or debit card info on file and available to the next Joe Schmoe who shows up and asks for it.

Don't enable companies like this. Protect your personal information, respect others' privacy and fight to keep your personal records protected and as private as possible. It's not right that citizens are penalized for registering to vote by having their personal information sold to people who would use it for criminal purposes.

Information is false

None of the information is true they lied. All the phone numbers and addresses is not accurate. You can't contact them .they need to out correct info on or not advertise. This is the second time I have dealt with this company and they are doneing the same taking peoples money.then they make you add 100 words before you can send them a message. I want my money refunded even thought it was a small amount and don't want to billed any other charges. They need to discontinue their business with misleading info and falsifying incorrect information

INTELIUS phone number verification.

I went on the Intelius web site to obtain the history of a phone number, 562 304 ****, while investigating foreclosure fraud incorporating a firm of attorneys in Tampa. The charges of INTELIUS are $0.95 which includes a $19.95 per month trial. I chose NOT to take this on, but rather pay the one off $4.99. After completing the application form with my credit card information, but before clicking to proceed, I chose to read the terms and conditions first. These were duly copied and filed in a document. Thereafter when I tried to return to my application page, my Anti-Virus notified me that this was a bad file and had been blocked. I was not not able to retrieve the page with my credit card information, even though I had not completed the transaction. This appears to be Internet fraud, and I am opening up a complaint with the FBI.

Intelius and Us search are the same company

did not get a criminal background check like they advertise. No information was generated when I was the person with the criminal history. I know if I have been arrested or not. Asked for refund and received no refund policy exact form letter from the same fake person that supposedly works at both companies! This is a copy of the emails that were sent to me:Hello *******, Thank you for contacting US search Customer Care. Not all individuals have a criminal record. Typically, a Criminal Check is purchased to verify whether or not an individual has a criminal record. There are some instances where you may feel a person has a criminal record, but the public records database confirms there are no criminal offenses. The following explains some instances when an individual would not have an available criminal record from the public records database: - The person has never been convicted of a crime. An arrest does not create a criminal record. The person must be convicted of a crime to have a criminal record. - The criminal records have been expunged. - The criminal records have not yet been updated in the public records database. (Updates can take several months). - The criminal records have been sealed and are no longer public. (e.g. - Minors criminal offenses are sealed and not a matter of public records). - The criminal record is in a different state than the state searched upon. - The criminal offenses are under a different name or date of birth than the one searched upon. Intelius Rip Off

I asked for a $2 or less Intelius service--an address and phone number, stupidly. I had heard they were a rip off company owned by an Indian and didn't stop and check the rip off reports. They now have WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION taken my credit card info and signed me up for credit card ID protection--which I do not want or need--and announced they have charged me about $40. Now I have to call Navy Federal, my credit card company, and start the hassle of getting the charges canceled if they didn't have the brains to cancel the charges themselves. "Asher" at the Intelius "customer service" phone number given was a slippery character who said "I apologize" every few seconds and refused to give decent customer service. My advice: NEVER< EVER< UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE INTELIUS YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER.

Intelius is a joke

I decided after multiple negatives at this job to call it quits, first when I was hired I was told I was being hired for a sales role which then turned into a customer service role. But what sent me over the edge was the fact they knew they were robbing people of their money and we could not refund them their money unless the customer mentioned the BBB or the Attorney General. They had an out source company in Indonesia and one day a customer called me and asked why he was still being charged $40.00 a month on his CC, he said he canceled it 7 months ago and talked to the out source people and they were suppose to cancel it. I placed him on hold and investigated it and the out source had notes on his account that said he called and canceled his account. The out source person who canceled his account didn't cancel it the correct way so the customer was still being billed, knowing that is was our companies fault that he was still being billed I contacted a manager to ask if we could refund the customer I showed the manager the notes of the out source rep saying he wanted to cancel and that they messed up some how by not closing his account down. My manager said we could do nothing even though it was our fault. I pleaded for the customer because he was out almost $300.00 because of us they still said we can't refund him his money. This was the straw that broke the camels back it happened all the time we made a mistake and the customers have to pay for it. I quit within the week.

Intelius is ruining my life!

How can a company claim to be the World's Largest and Most Accurate Data Source and get something so simple as an age wrong! It is costing me jobs and not to mention has completely put my personal life into a tail spin. Really Pissed over this! HR departments do consider age, I know from being exposed to them, I don't care what the law is. They do pay attention to your age especially if it is a high exposure or high profile position. It isn't all their fault however, it shows that people put more faith in the internet than in other people. I am surprised that more lawsuits don't emerge from things like this.

Illegally charged $19.95 a mo. for credit monitoring

I signed up for a one time $6.95 people search and was charged $19.95 a mo. for 5 months. Called them and only got a promise to return all the money when I told them I was reporting them to the BBB, which I did. BEWARE *****Do not use their services, use another one******** If you use this service, you have a great chance of them automatically signing you up for their "credit monitoring" even if you didn't want it. They are highly unethical and don't respond well when you want your money back - you have to threaten them.

I see Intelius wrote a response, however this is pure damage control. I urge anyone to research their complaint history here or with the BBB and you will see they are crooks.

Intelius is fraudulent

The fact that your office closed out my complaint is tantamount to the police telling a stop sign violator that they dropped charges since driver eventually did stop later that week. Can't the state of Washington realize that due to the sheer numbers of consumer complaints against Intelius that hundreds of victims can't all be accused of not being bright enough to click the proper button for the .95 one time special look-up and not "a club membership" for $19.95? I now consider the office of the Attorney Generals office complicit in the fraudulent practices commonplace to Intelius day to day business.
