Intelius Is A Huge Waste Of Money

I will make this brief. Intelius background checks are a fraud. They call themselves the most accurate check system. Odd, because i lived in Ohio for nearly 22 years and they couldn't find a single residency nor could they find a single job. It cost me 33 bucks and they have a no refund policy. Because, they say that the information is no always correct or accurate. They told me that they are sorry they could not find it and figures it is because i only 4 years on the record. Which is bogus. I payed taxed for all those years and they say they cant find it and i dont get a refund. EVERYONE, do not go to this site. You are better off going through the courts. This company is a jip and will rip you off to fill thier pockets. They are not accurate and shouldn't even think about calling themselves that.

Beware, they are a shady company. I placed a $4.95 order and they charged my Amex an additional $5 ($9.95 total) for "email confirmation," which I did not authorize in the first place. Not only that, the information was not even close. Naturally, I emailed them (no response for over a week) and called them and they refuse to refund the money. I have filed a dispute with American Express and they refunded me the money, no questions asked.

Intelius charged my credit card for a service they claim I opted-into. They don't have any way to cancel your account online! I was able to talk to someone soon enough to get a refund *hopefully* and cancel the service over the phone. The number I used was 877-974-1563 not the number they had on their website. Hopefully this helps someone else out too.

I wanted a reverse lookup of a Verizon landline # in NJ. They sent me name and address of some shmoe in Ohio. Went to 411.com and they had the right information (no info no charge). Fact is they will just make up garbage and charge you for it if they don't have the info. And they rarely if ever have any info. They refused to refund. They are 100% rip-off. Dispute ongoing.

I agree. I purchased a report from them and it was useless. I emailed a complaint, but never received a response.

I have been an investigator for sometime now and I have utilized www.intelius.com as a tool only to point me in the right direction when information on a subject was limited. For the most part, they were pretty good BUT they were expensive. Due Diligence requires me to verify the veracity of the records listed for a subject because, as previous comments have alluded to, records could be in error, listed because of name similarity, and for other reasons to numerous to cover in this posting. Nonetheless, I was pointed in the right direction and without due diligence research, the information would amount to nothing but public information. I don't utilize intelius.com anymore, mainly because of the price. However, I was just referred to www.PublicIntel.com which was much more price-effective for the public information it provided. If I found information that was in error, I always ascertained the reason why it was listed in the first place. My advice to the public, if information listed on a public records search is in error, there are dispute venues (most likely a form) to get such an item in error removed, ESPECIALLY if the information in error is utilized for employment OR residential purposes. If an item does not show up that should be there, check first the source responsible for reporting & work your way up the ladder to the background information service provider.

if you signed up for intelius, check your credit card statement. i've been charged $19.95 by a company called privacymatters on a monthly basis. when i called them, they said that intelius sends them my info and automatically enrolls me into a monthly subscription with this company, which i definitely did not agree to do when i ordered a background check. so be forewarned and check your accounts carefully for any unauthorized charges after transacting business with intelius.

I tried to buy just one report, and they billed my credit card for "one year membership" and I didn't get my report. A$$holes!

was offered a promotional rate of 4.95 instead of their usual 14.95.. then they charged me an extra 10 dollar "service fee" (which bumped the cell phone background report back up to the original $14.95.. how deceptive) AND THEN ALL THE INFO WAS WRONG... WHAT A RIP OFF!!!
